The Alna Store, housed in a 120 year old general store in Alna, Maine, opened quietly in December 2022 with an extremely limited staff and a clear vision - to support local farms, stay open year-round, and serve great food & beverage with warm hospitality in a rural setting.
One year later, after being named Maine's Best New Restaurant and awarded 4.5 stars by Food Critic Andrew Ross of the Portland Press Herald, The Alna Store was
honored to be a James Beard Semi-Finalist for 'Best New Restaurant' in America.
In September 2024, The Alna Store appeared on the New York Times 'Top 50 Restaurants in America' List.
Owners Jasper Ludwig & Brian Haskins live just down the road in Newcastle, Maine
on the farm where Jasper was born and raised. Together with Chef Ty Dalton and an incredible and ever changing team of passionate professionals, they're bringing locally sourced & sustainably farmed food to the table, while promoting living wages and year round employment for year-round Mainers.
The Alna Store has a menu that shifts with the seasons, though many dishes make seasonal appearances each year - as they've won the hearts of loyal guests and become part of The Alna Store repertoire.
As The Alna Store grows older, and members of the team move on to new ventures, there is immense pride in the dispersal of philosophy, dedication to sourcing, and mentorship that will continue to have a positive impact on farmers, fishermen, and diners throughout the great state of Maine.
Guests and local community are a big part of this story - none of this is possible without you!
